Vision Plan Help Center

We know vision plans and insurance rules can be confusing, so we’ve developed this help center to make it easier on you.

Most frequent questions and answers

Vision plans can be used for Well Eye Exams, Refraction, and optical services such as glasses or contact lenses.

A Well-check visit, also called an annual physical or check-up, is a preventative measure and a time for communication with your physician

Unlike medical insurance, refractions are covered by most vision plans.

If you do not know what vision plan you have, contact your company’s HR department. They will be able to direct you to finding this information.

Most plans allow you to purchase one or the other. Very rarely do we see plans that allow you to purchase both at the discounted rate. However

At CTEC, our patients with vision plans are scheduled with our Optometrist since they cover only well check exams and refractions. If you have a medical diagnosis, you may be required to carry medical insurance or pay cash for a medical office visit.

While we strive to keep this list as up to date as possible, if you do not see your insurance provider listed, that does not necessarily mean we do not accept your plan. Again, please call 512-353-1300.

It is recommended that you contact your vision plan’s customer service department for an explanation of benefits.  We will obtain an explanation of benefits as well, but it is always a good idea to know what to expect ahead of your appointment.
