Jonathan Welch, M.D.

Cataract Surgeon

Dr. Jonathan Welch is a board certified ophthalmologist who has been practicing general ophthalmology in San Marcos since 2008.

Dr. Welch was born and raised in Longview, Texas. He received his undergraduate degree with honors in chemical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. He obtained his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. After a one year internship in Austin at Brackenridge Hospital, he completed his three year ophthalmology residency at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN.

Dr. Welch see patients in the San Marcos and Kyle offices. He is committed to providing the most advanced medical care to his patients, and his interests include cataract evaluation and treatment, glaucoma, diabetes, macular degeneration and comprehensive ophthalmology. He specializes in no stitch cataract surgery, including astigmatism correction lenses and multifocal intraocular lenses.

During his free time, Dr. Welch enjoys traveling, snow boarding and mountain bike riding.

COVID-19 ANNOUNCEMENT

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Academy of Ophthalmology has instructed all eye care facilities to cease providing any treatment other than urgent or emergent care immediately.

Central Texas Eye Center is committed to continuing care on an emergency basis, in the San Marcos location. If you are in need of emergency eye care, please call 512-353-1300 and we will make the appropriate arrangements to see you.

Beginning Monday, March 23rd all non-emergent appointments will be cancelled, and you will be contacted. We will have someone available to refill medications. Please send requests to info@ctectx.com

It is critical we continue to support our healthcare community so patients with emergency conditions do not stretch the capacity of our hospitals during our country's greatest time of need.

We encourage our staff and patients to take proper precautions, and follow guidelines from public health officials.
